Church in the Park! #SundaySetlists

Church in the Park, hosted by St. Simons Community Church at Neptune Park

This past Sunday our church came together outdoors in the Pier Village’s Neptune Park down by the ocean.  It’s one of our favorite things to do a couple of times per year.  This recap of the service as a part of the weekly “Sunday Setlists” event hosted by TheWorshipCommunity.Com each week.  Visit to view other setlists and worship recaps from other churches across the country.

Thanks to a lot of hard work by our tech director, Travis Paulding, the load-in and load-out of the equipment for Church in the Park is a piece of cake.  We’ve used the same sound company out of Savannah for a few years now who always shows up with the right gear and the right crew.  With our volunteer team the setup goes very fast and the sound is always top-notch.   Through doing this event many times our admin team pulls together all the needed resources, assigns all the staff their roles, and we move our church to a beautiful, outdoor, oceanside park.

When I’m planning the music for Church in the Park I like to include songs that the people love to sing.  I also like to include more popular songs that may be current on our local radio.  Lastly, I try to always include some older songs that everyone will know and be familiar with.

Our opening songs included:
“Hold Us Together” (C) – Matt Maher
“Forever Reign” (C) – Kristian Stanfill
“Our God” (G) – Tomlin/Passion

After some announcements, a fun game, and prayer for our Haiti missions team, we led a 2-song set including:
“10,000 Reasons” (G) – Matt Redman
“Praise the Invisible” (G) – Daniel Bashta

Our Family Pastor gave a great sermon which focused on his personal testimony and story.  It was captivating and stirring.

We closed with “How Great is our God” (G) and a simple chorus of “How Great Thou Art”.

It was perfect weather for the event.  The weather was supposed to include 20-30 mph winds but the winds held back until we were done.  A nice breeze was present to keep the gnats away and it was sunny  … just a GORGEOUS day.
