Sunday Recap
Posted on March 18th, 2007 in Family by Fred McKinnonHey Everyone!
My first service leading at St. Simons Community Church
Thanks for all the prayers. Today was a total blast and we had some great times of worship. Although the praise band was together and we nailed our music by the 3rd service, my biggest “blooper” was the 3rd service as well ….
They say it takes a couple of weeks to form a habit … well, after 11+ years, I’ve got some habits … so, I greeted my new church by saying “Good morning, and welcome to Christian Renewal Church (my old church)” .. instead of “welcome to St. Simons Community Church”.
Some habits die hard.
Thankfully, the place erupted into laughter and I joked a bit more about it, and we moved on. I’ll not live this one down for some time, though. The staff is already having a field day. Pastor David said “this will be the shortest tenure of a full-time Music Director ever”.
Special thanks to some of my dear friends and family who came out to support me on my first Sunday. Glad you could find a seat. In all three services, the announcement of my position was welcomed with applause and cheers, so I am grateful to be embraced by such a great group.
Extravagant Love – now in Top 100
Special thanks to those who have been visiting the IndieHeaven.Com Radio Charts daily to vote for my piano solo, “Extragavant Love”. It made it’s debut at the bottom of the chart just a couple of weeks ago, and has now crossed into the Top 100. I’d love to see it reach the Top 10 – just so that more people can encounter the music, and the ministry behind it. So … if you feel so inclined, show your support by voting daily! (you just find the song on the chart, click it to play it, and scroll back to the top of the chart and click on the “Show Support – Rate this Song” stars.
The Worship Community
So, I’ve been subscribed for YEARS to various email-based worship discussion lists, but have really wanted to have a web-based forum that serves as a place of community, fellowship, and ANSWERS to many of the questions we have about leadership, worship, music, and all the technical stuff that goes into creating a time of worship. Although it’s not “designed” yet, I’ve started sharing the link and would like to invite you to visit “The Worship Community” forums … register (yes, it’s free) and post your welcome message – and even better … reply to an existing thread, or start a thread of your own! (threads, by the way, are “conversations” for you forum newbies). My vision is to see this become one of the most well-known places on the internet for people to discuss various aspects of praise and worship.
Well, I’ve got a big week coming up … Joy and the kids are taking off Wednesday for 3 days of camping in Orlando with her oldest brother and his family … I’m unable to attend because I’m playing in a wedding in Dublin, GA … so, I’ll be keeping the baby (Andrew – 10 mos) here with me, and taking him with me to the wedding … trying to work out the babysitter logistics for that now … makes me appreciate all that “moms” do.
Thanks for being a reader and a friend.
For the Kingdom,
Fred

There was an energy at SSCC today, an excitement, that was somewhat bigger than usual. The music was outstanding as well. It really felt like someone spent 40+ hours this week getting it ready. If that was the typically “shaky” first Sunday, then I can’t imaging how well the future events will go. Thanks.
Hey Fred! How exciting this sounds to us who have known you and your ministry for so many years. I am thrilled! You must… as soon as possible… get us a clip of your worship at SSCC to listen to!
Blessings my friend!
