The Announcement I Warned You About … I’m in Sin!
Posted on April 10th, 2007 in Fitness by Fred McKinnonHey Everyone -
In my previous post, I warned that I had an announcement to make, and I wasn’t excited about it at all. So, here it goes.
I’ve been in sin. I’ve willingly, knowingly disobeyed God and grieved the Holy Spirit, over and over.
Got your attention? Good!
I am 36 years old, and I’m out of shape. My temple is a wreck. I weigh more than ever before. At an even 6-feet, I weigh in around 230 pounds. That’s french fries, burgers, ice cream, Coke, more Coke, supplement with Coca-Cola, a big cold glass of orange juice before bed, purple grape juice all the time, and boxes full of sugar cereal.
I’ve been unhappy about it for a long time. It’s not getting better. I love food. I’m addicted to eating junk. I sense God saying “you are destroying your body”. I feel the grief of the Holy Spirit, yet I do it anyway.
I’m being too spiritual? Are you kidding! I promise you, the Holy Spirit speaks to us about our diet and lifestyles. Do we listen?
I’m a “dates” guy – “all in” or “all out” .. i love to lean on special dates to make things happen. So, I didn’t want to start dieting prior to my Nashville trip. So, I said “in honor of my Risen King, and to celebrate His New Life of Resurrection, the the NEW LIFE that HE gave to ME, I chose Easter Sunday as the last day of this lifestyle.
So yesterday, I started my “diet”. For the millionth time, I started another diet. Really, I hope it’s more than a diet. I hope it’s a lifestyle change. I decided to humble myself, and blog about it for the ACCOUNTABILITY.
One of my new blog/worship leader friends, Rich Kirkpatrick, posted this post about how he did the same thing – it was an amazing change. You inspired me Rich! Great job!
This one is for the team. It’s for God. It’s for Joy. (ya know, they say losing weight and getting in better shape is GREAT for your SEX LIFE, haha!). This is for the Kids.
So, I created a new category called “Fitness” and I’ll post my progress.
OK – so this isn’t a revelation teaching of the Word. This isn’t a new song. It’s not a piano solo. It’s not about worship leading … but it’s me.
Thanks for reading!
For the Kingdom,
Fred

Way to go! I think I’ll join you in that pursuit, as it’s definitely an area I have to work on as well!
I’m with you too Fred…I’m 50 in two months and want to honor my creator and welcome my 2nd 50 much lighter than I am right now.
I’ve got a bike- an old DM airdyne but it makes you sweat … you get a bike and we’ll ride together every day … say 6 pm for 10 minutes to start.
I’ll get started today-I’m older and slower- and you can catch up…you can even Praise God while riding….remember the Spirit will translate even our groanings into prayers and praise ….
You up for it?
I will truly be praying for you. You can do it!! We can all say the same thing, though. Each and every one of us have “one thing” that the Lord is putting His finger on. Many times we lament when He puts His finger on something in our lives, but that’s simply because we don’t realize that with His finger touching that “one thing”, He is also supplying all the ability – HIS ability – to accomplish the work He started when He pointed it out! May His ability flow in you like a river of power and life. Can’t wait to see the new you!
Rob
Hey Fred, you can do it!!

Hi Fred
you are one step closer to acheiving your goal
by admiting that we are hooked on junk food and doing something about it, Fred unless you take this action you will fail again and again
Over the years of abusing your body with junk food your
intestine has been filled with waste matter, hence part of that large stomack
THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP TO TAKE NOW IS TO CLEAN YOUR SYSTEM OF ALL THAT WASTE MATTER, TAKE PROPER NUTRITION
YOU MUST EAT HIGH FIBRE FOOD THAT WILL LEAVE YOU FEELING
SATISFIED, NO LETTUCE LEAF HERE ONLY, IT ONLY MAKES YOU HUNGRY AND WANTING TO EAT more
I DONT HAVE ANY MONETARY GAIN BY TELLING YOU ABOUT DRNATURA.COM JUST THAT IT IS THE SENSIBLE WAY TO LOOSE WEIGHT.
learn to LOVE high fibre food, no white bread, NO fried food (for now anyway) drink lot and lots of pure water,
learn to looooove water rather than soda
also visit drmercola.com he will tell you how bbaaaad soda
is for you
Remember your body is a temple that GOD has given you, treat it with respect and love, did it ever occure to you
that eating all that JUNK food you are disrespecting GOD’S
temple?
wishing you many blessings on this journey, be loving, kind and respectfull to yourself, your family will respect
and be proud of you
On days that you fail and binge, remember tomorrow is a brand new day, a new start, Jesus died so we can have a
NEW START, let him be your guide

I think you lost 20 pound mowing all the lawns you mowed Saturday!!!! I had already done mine earlier in the day or I would have let you come over and do it also!!!!
Fred,
I’m the Worship Leader at WECC for “Saturday Night Alive”. I’m going to be 55 in November of this year.
My story is I went to the doctor in January of this year and I weighed in at a whopping 260 lbs and my height is 5’10″ with less than large bone structure. The news from the doctor was high blood pressure, high cholesterol and high sugar. Medication for all the problems was the recommended. My answer to the doctor was “NO”. It came out of me before I had a chance to think. Holy Spirit was speaking. It was a salvation moment when God had renewed my mine to say ” I’m going to change and that’s final I am going to repent (Turn Around).
O.K. Here’s the point. I’ve lost 40 lbs since then and I am eating healthy and exercising. I’m not on a diet, I’ve changed my eating lifestyle to be more in line with God’s plan. Part of the plan is snipets from the Daniel Diet but brother let me introduce you to something you already know about. Water, take your weight divide by two and that is the amount of ounces of water we all should be drinking every day and more during the summer. Doug Lane of Crossfit Amelia Island has helped my wife and I understand nutrition from a relevant viewpoint.
Lastly, the Holy Spirit convicted me that it is very important to be healthy with adequate energy levels.
We are abassadors for the Lord and should be a vibrant representation of Christ.
Fred, the Holy Spirit is got you covered on this one also.
God is in the weight loss business also.
Peace, Grace & Mercy,
Gene
Gene,
I happened on this website and noticed your testamonial. I am sure sorry that you have had to deal with all these problems. However, I wish you could see your ex wife. The divorce must have been a great thing to happen to her because she now weighs 105 – long blond hair – and doing 10k runs. So, who is sorry now?
I just had to vent on behalf of my friend.
