What I love About Kids …
Posted on April 22nd, 2007 in Family by Fred McKinnonHey Ya’ll,
In celebration of my father-in-law’s 80th birthday, we joined with family yesterday at the Wilshire Park in Gainesville, GA – a few blocks away from Joy’s parents home. It was a great time of family, food, celebration, and playing with the kids.
What I love about kids is how they love to just “go all out”.
For example, checkout the awesome playground they had at Wilshire Park:

No kids?
Where were all the kids? They could care less about the playground. The kids found something better, and it only took them about 1 minute:

Needless to say, they had fun, and of course, each of them got soaking wet and dirty .. and they loved it!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDAD!

Which reminds me, at the Saturday night gathering at Family Life Church, I wandered into the kids wing right before the worship started. Pastor Todd was really excited about showing me this water gun that he got for the kids game that night. Picture old school “Super Soaker.” Since he pointed the thing at his wife, Tammy, I was more that interested in seeing how he would handle this situation.
What I didn’t expect was that the nozzle shot straight sideways, meaning, into my face and the whole top half of my shirt. Now this will come as a shock to those of you that know how much of a clean freak I am, but I actually enjoyed the whole thing. It’s like a light bulb came on in my 30 year old brain and said “laugh, stupid!” Which I did. For about 5 minutes.
Perhaps the next 30 years of my life can be known by historians as the “laughter period” where I decided to loosen up and have more fun.
Now, I would’ve LOVED to have seen that!
He’s right…I never would’ve expected him to “laugh it off” clean (dry) freak that he is …especially knowing that one minute later, he had to go on stage and play with the top half of his shirt soaking wet! I think everyone enjoyed it, I know I did
