Sunday 5/13 Recap

Hope you had a great weekend. We celebrated Mother’s Day and I’m so blessed to not only have an awesome Mom, but also to be married to my wife, who is an awesome Mom!
Yesterday was a great day for us at SSCC. I felt like the 8:00 service was the most “alive” ever. The 9:30 service was way over-capacity … there were folks standing along the perimeter of the main auditorium the entire service, and I joined Joy down in the lobby area where a TV is setup downstairs … along with 25-30+ other people who couldn’t get a seat upstairs. Our new building can’t get finished soon enough. The 11:00 service was still full, maybe not as over-capacity as the 9:30, but definitely full.
I was able to introduce one of my favorite praise songs, “You, You Are God” by Walker Beach. We did it as the “walk-in” which is song we play before the service. We keep the announcements loop running, so the lyrics aren’t being displayed but people felt the liberty to stand up and start singing along anyway, which was very cool.
We also had communion this Sunday which was an added blessing and opportunity for ministry.
The set list was:
Walk-In: You, You Are God
Opening Praise Song: Meet with Me (with cool, “Trading my Sorrows”-type bass intro)
Transition into Worship
“Consuming Fire”
After announcements, we did the quick “Green Acres” theme intro, as we’ve been in this series on “The Parable of the Sower” called “Green Acres” for a few weeks now.
During communion, we engaged in more worship:
O The Blood/Nothing But the Blood Medley
All Who Are Thirsty
How Great is our God
We only did the “Chorus” and “Bridge” from How Great is our God, and it was a great anthem of praise and worship to end the services.
I brought lunch home for Joy, cleaned the kitchen, took the kids to the pool, and had a great nap – it was a fantastic day.
For the Kingdom,
Fred
