Worship Confessional #4, June 24 2007

Posted on June 24th, 2007 in Worship Confessionals by Fred McKinnon

Hey Everyone!

Hope you had a great weekend. We had an awesome time of worship at St. Simons Community Chuch. Below is our weekly “Worship Confessional”. I co-led with Kim Dixon this Sunday. I love my role as Worship Director because I am able to not just lead myself, but incorporate the wonderful leadership of the other anointed, powerful leaders that God has given to our local church as well.

Thanks again to all of you are leaving comments … it stirs us up and lets us know that you’re there!

  1. A very good Sunday, indeed…it was great getting to hear Drew twice in one day (also at the Gathering Place)…
p.s. – “Lord Reign in Me”: a great song, written by the author of MANY great songs, Brenton Brown (who also wrote “All who are Thirsty”, “Hallelujah {Your Love is Amazing}”, “Humble King” and “Everlasting God”, among many others)

Hey – Congrats on another blessed worship service. I loved hearing Kim in WUTS also.

I didn’t think that anyone remembered Bruce Hornsby anymore. I’ve been looking for a purely instrumental offering from him but have been disappointed so far. He is still on mySpace, so maybe there’s hope for the future and he won’t simply fade into oblivion.

    Have a blessed week.

Sounds like a great Sunday indeed! The spirit was all over it seems. We also had a great time of worship, really touching God. I am starting a “dark-ages” version of a worship confessional on my SongDiscovery site. Hope you’ll check it out and tell me what you think. BTW, we used the walk-in song idea and it went over well. We sang Robin Mark’s “I Heard The Sound Of Voices.” The people enjoyed it; even got a little clap! No small thing from a Southern Baptist church! Thank you, Brother, for your ministry. God Bless!

Fred, i have been reading your comments on worship-request and enjoyed your thoughtful comments on many subjects. when i checked back after a bit of a long break from that site i found the link for these worship confessionals. with a trepidatious heart i decided to check it out. (confessional is a bit of a scarry term for a baptist!). awesome, awesome idea! i now am reading all kinds of these things and hope to convince my worship leader to do a similar thing. i am not a musician or singer but have been on the worship planning team at our church for over 6 years. we do review our service on tuesday but putting it out there in a concrete form seems like a very helpful thing. i will definately continue to listen to your confessional weekly and steal ideas for our services. it was also helpful for me to hear you comment about late singers, missing musicians, and the problems in a service. keep up the good work, we are definatly out here and listening!

  9. Debby -

Thanks so much for your comment … you know, reading these comments puts the bigger perspective on this … we cut up and have fun doing this, and it’s entertaining for us (and probably will eventually become a burden, like every other repetitive thing we start doing, haha!), but I’m realizing from your comment and dozens others like it that this idea really does help people. I am inspired by the comments .. thanks so much!

    For the Kingdom,
    Fred
