More Scripture Goodies – Giving

I love it when God shows you a truth multiple times in the same morning through what “seems” to be random passages of Scripture. I have this “Daily Reader” program which is a companion to the “My Bible” program available from Laridian for my Palm Treo. (so yeah, if you see me punching my phone in church, it just may be I’m searching for a verse, not texting like you thought!).

This morning, the first place they took me was to Proverbs 21 … checkout the last phrase of Verse 26:
“… while the godly love to give”. (NLT)

Then, I went over to the Psalm 37:24:
” … but the godly are generous givers”. (NLT)

These passages just “happened” to come up on the same day, in different books, in the Bible Reading plan.

Think God wants us to remember that part of being like Him is in being generous? Time to evaluate your giving folks, in your time, and yes – in your $$$ …. God is the greatest Giver of all time.

Well … this was a quick commercial break .. now back to my reading … I will say that I’m excited about a new blog, hopefully today … one of my songs was evaluated yesterday by the SongDISCovery panel, including Andy Park (Vineyard) .. can’t wait to tell you about it.

    I will look forward to hearing more. Hmmmm – let’s see now, keeping our mouth shut (until we know what God would have us say and are able to say it like He would say it) and freely giving of our money, time, talents, etc. – sounds like God’s plan for us to walk in abundant life!

    Good stuff bro! I needed those verses for my talk to the youth next Wednesday. I also needed them for someone else.

    About the Bible app for your phone, I used to just plain take my laptop to church for that reason. That gets weird looks let me tell you.

    I think those are good verses to know. Let’s all remember as well, that we sometimes forget that all those “giving” verses aren’t just talking about giving to the church, but to others in need. I think sometimes we (myself included) forget that Christians are supposed to be the most generous people, giving of ourselves to those who need it the most.
    And sometimes he is texting :) ha ha!
