I guess this is “video” day …. I’ve got a funny one to share today. It’s a spin off of the Bud Light (yes, you read that properly) commercials. This big youth ministry called The Gathering Place does this huge meeting called “The Main Event” on Sunday evenings and they came to me asking if I could “re-produce” the soundtrack to the “Real Men of Genius” commercials. Honestly, I had never heard of the commercials or ads so I had to go and watch several of them online to see what the deal was.Their script was just to have a funny parody of a guy who wears everything on his belt.

So, I went off to the studio and composed the soundtrack and the GP crew came over and filmed the spots in the studio. I even make a guest appearance at the very end, strumming Jon Michael’s “miniature” guitar with this serious look on my face. It wound up being pretty funny – I think the kids laughed.

Before anyone throws a stone because we did a parody from a “beer commercial”, you need to understand that several “features” in those commercials are common elements of the weekly Main Event … for example, they always have “cookies and punch” after the Main Event outside, and it’s always part of the opening skit … so, in place of “sit back and grab an ice cold Bud Light”, they changed it to “sit back and enjoy cookies and punch”, etc.

All that to say – if you’ve seen the “Real Men of Genius” ads before, you’ll catch on quickly … from everything to the music, the “rock star” singer, and even our girl backup singers.
