I love my job!
Posted on August 1st, 2007 in Music by Fred McKinnonHey Ya’ll,
I’m especially loving my job this week … we had a great rehearsal last night … the setlist has come together perfectly for a very important series that we’re setting up at SSCC. The next 4 weeks will be crucial as we begin a series called “iReach”. This series will capture a fresh, new perspective on our mission and vision as a church.
This Sunday is the first in the series and I’d call it the “set up” Sunday … it’s called “iReach – Changed Lives” and is about how God has been changing lives through the ministry at SSCC. I have had the benefit of added time to be thinking and praying about the songlist and I’m happy with the flow of what we have going on.
We’re doing Jeremy Riddle’s “Sweetly Broken” as a walk-in song … this song is speaking of the cross, and my favorite lyric is the first line of Verse 2 … “what a priceless gift … undeserved life”.
Next we’re doing “For All You’ve Done”, a big Hillsongs praise chorus that celebrates all Christ has done through his resurrection and the work He accomplished on the cross.
For our worship segment, we’re doing “Amazed” (the Lincoln Brewster arr.) which speaks of how amazed we are at how much God loves us and has changed us … followed by “Mighty Is the Power of the Cross”.
“the cross” – this theme comes forth throughout .. it’s impossible to talk about lives being changed in God without talking about the cross.
In addition to the music and David’s sermon, we will be featuring three separate “testimonial” videos. The beauty of being on full-time staff is that I was able to take the entire day and lockdown in my ProTools studio scoring and recording original background music for each of the three videos. [if we can get release and permission, maybe I'll be able to share those videos here on the blog soon]. It’s so cool to be able to take what was just a video of some people sharing and to add custom music to the background. I was able to watch the video on the monitor and “interpret” their voice, their comments, their facial expressions, etc. Travis [who needs to be encouraged to make his first blog post] did a great job editing the video and married with the music we have some compelling footage that should have a huge impact on souls.
Finally, after watching the videos, we’ll close with the old Hillsong ballad, “I Will Never Be” (the same again) …
For the Kingdom,
Fred
