Sunday Night Ramblings off a Whirlwind Week
Posted on August 5th, 2007 in Old-General by Fred McKinnonHey Everyone!
What a whirlwind week. It’s been a great one, though. And today was even more awesome as we had a great time of worship and ministry at SSCC.
It was pretty hectic last week because of several things that had to be completed … I composed some background music for three videos we used at church today and I also completed the cello/violin/piano arrangement that we’ll use this COMING Sunday, Aug 12 for “Come and Listen” (David Crowder Band). It’s been years since I really did any serious “scoring” so it literally took me a few days to blow the dust out of that area in my brain that remembered how to use Finale notation software. I almost decided to just get out some manuscript paper and do it the old fashioned way, but I’m glad I stuck it out and got it done. Then I had a few days of recording sessions with some folks from Charlotte, NC who came down to the studio here to do some demo work. It was a blast – we hadn’t reconnected in a long time and it was like we’d never been part. That’s how it is with God-ordained relationships, right!?
I’m bummed because I don’t think I’ve posted or read TheWorshipCommunity.Com all week … man, I’ve gotta clone myself.
[insert frightened scream]
Summer is winding down in a hurry. Will (my 2nd born) is starting Pre-K and he got the same PreK teacher that Jon Michael had … a great, Christian lady, so we’re excited about that. Jon Michael (the oldest) starts 1st grade .. they both go together in 10 days .. Aug 15, which is actually JM’s birthday. How horrible is that .. when your first day of school is also your birthday!
Joy and I will be celebrating our 9th wedding anniversary on the 18th. God’s been good to us, and we’ve worked it out w/ my Mom (thanks Me-Ma!) and some other friends to come over and be with all the kids Thursday PM – Sunday AM and Joy and I are sneaking away (not very far, mind you) to a nice hotel on the beach for some R&R at the end of this coming week … I can’t wait!
My good pastor friend and blogger, Robert Pooley .. he’s got it going on. This guy is going to address the “Big Blue Elephant” .. and even had a huge Blue Elephant at his church today. What is the Big Blue Elephant? It has to do with p0rn0graphy … something that is a massive epidimic these days. I’ll let you read the rest on Robert’s blog.
Carlos @ RagamuffinSoul.Com made a huge announcement today … and although some may not like it, I’m excited about it!
Today at SSCC was a homerun day .. one of those days when the media, the music, the lyrics, the message, the response .. it was all there, proclaiming a laser-focused theme of “Changed Lives”. I looked out with amazement during our “walk-out” song on all three services at the people who were just “stuck there” – God dealing with them, changing them, loving them, and doing an awesome work. It was one of the most satisfying days yet. The crazy thing is that I’m just as excited about this coming Sunday.
Pastor David wants to join me on the Worship Confessional Video … so maybe we’ll shoot in the AM. I’ve got to be on a featured video for Sunday as well … maybe I can share it here.
FanFaves – you guys rock. For the first time ever, one of my tunes has made the “Top 10″ on IndieHeaven.Com FanFaves. “Fix My Eyes” is holding at #6. For all you who voted – thanks, and please go back and DO IT AGAIN, and find 5 people to join you!
The Entrepreneur In Me:
I’ve got a big “business” decision that I’m really praying about – it’s a huge decision and one that can’t be made without some serious prayer. I wish I could be more forthcoming but suffice it to say that I’d really like for you to pray for God’s favor to rest upon HPP, His wisdom to flow in me, and for me to have the strength and courage to OBEY what He says … ’cause right now, I’m double-minded and we all know what His Word says about that kind of man. I need clarity and focus. Most of all – one of the things that is an “option” for me needs to either come into light, or be gone.
Last night .. Joy and I had a date (Thanks M&Z) and went to see the Bourne Ultimatum … wow, it rocked.
Tonight, I had strawberry dumpcake, ice cream, and popcorn for supper. What’s wrong with this picture? I’ve gotta get back in the groove soon.
LAND SAKES (as Coach Brewton used to say) … a roach the size of California just crawled right across the top of my flatscreen … YIKES … and yes, I got’em. Time to spray again.
Lastly, I can’t really stop listening to the piano music by my friend, Jace Vek. Jace did the orchestration for Restless … he’s incredible. After all this time, no excuse … I’d never purchased his music. I found both albums on iTunes and well … amazed … stunned … overwhelmed that I even have this guy’s cell phone # and that we’re friends … and that he has blessed me with his talents. Jace, you are amazing, my friend. God has gifted you beyond what you can even comprehend, and my prayer is that He pours out even more creativity on your life and more favor than you’ve ever seen as you trust Him. Go get’em! (jace on iTunes)
I feel better now … good night.
Fred
