Sunday Recap for 8/19/07
Posted on August 19th, 2007 in Church Life by Fred McKinnonHey Everyone -
Great day today, but a long one. 3 great services at SSCC. There was a good crowd in the 8:00 AM, the 9:30 was almost full, and the 11:00 was ridiculously packed … overpacked … and the downstairs lobby area we use for overflow was full, too. That’s exciting.
Worship Confessional:
I know, I’m already a week behind. I hope to knock two of those out, back-to-back – one for last week (8/12) and one for today (8/19). Today’s setlist was a more blended list with some older songs and newer:
O Taste and See (Brian & Jenn Johnson)
Meet with Me
Lord Reign in Me
The Solid Rock (Hymn – On Christ The Solid Rock I Stand)
Sing for Joy (older Don Moen/Hosanna! Song)
Center (Charlie Hall)
Today’s message was the 3rd part of our “iReach” series: “iReach In” and was about reaching “in” to the Body … connecting in small groups, bible studies … the reality that we aren’t meant to do this “Christian walk alone”. Pastor David did an awesome job communicating this as always. We had some friends over tonight who were visitors today and they really connected with the message!
After the service we had a “Small Group Leader” meeting – lunch was served and we spent time being equipped by Pastor Steve Temmer (Small Groups/Discipleship Pastor) for the upcoming Fall and we discussed the various groups happening. Joy and I will be leading Dave Ramsey’s “Financial Peace University” here in our home.
Lastly, we had a wonderful baptism service at 3:00 PM. It was wonderful except for the weather – it had to be over 100 degrees, and we were out by the pool in direct sunlight for more than an hour (we had a LOT of people to baptize!). I’m not in favor or mid-August, 3:00 PM outdoor baptism services anymore, haha!
It made for a long day, but a productive one. I’ll sleep well tonight and feel great about the way we encountered Christ corporately today.
How was your worship service today?
For the Kingdom,
Fred
