Kidjam and The Who?
Posted on September 20th, 2007 in Church Life, Music by Fred McKinnonHey Ya’ll,
I posted a few weeks ago that Deb and JJ had me doing a parody of The Who’s “Pinball Wizard” song. Instead of a kid playing pinball, we have Nehemiah rebuilding “the wall”. We missed the debut in Kid Jam because we were on vacation, but I heard they loved it.
Posting this proves one thing… I no longer give a RIP about how ridiculous I may sound. From the get-go, I knew this sounded crazy, silly, ridiculous .. (some would say horrible!) .. but the only way this type of thing works is if you are willing to jump in and do it with gusto … so, I’d ask that you remove your “I’m all grown up and cool now” glasses and put yourselves into the shoes of a 1st grader.

Please wait until AFTER COMMENTING to put your “I’m all grown up and cool now” glasses back on, and enjoy your day here @ The Internet.
For the Kingdom,
Fred

Hey Fred,
I labeled the post “Worship Confessional.”
Let me know if that is right.

Fred, I’d very much like you to break out one day and write a whole rock opera. That’d be fun. This track was VERY fun to listen to. Nice work.
We did it here, too. It was hillarious! The kids loved it, and that’s what it’s all about. Our praise and worship leader was Nehemiah, and Mida Smith (remember her??) was one of the builders doing the air guitar on the shovel. I laughed until it hurt, but the kids are still singing that song!
Ben – Let’s Do it!
Robert –
Did you guys have someone cover it like that – like w/ a recording, or did they sing it live? I told Deb I should get that audio trax to North Point in case others needed it.
Yeah – same curriculum … great stuff. The kids DON’T FORGET this stuff.
See ya, bro!

I think its cool!!!!

hahaha. I love it!
I hear a little Jack Black in there.
Dude. I was there. It was awesome! Especially the kids on stage acting it out.
i loved it! were you definitely channeling jack black…in a good way? I’m gonna send the link to all our band and children’s church folk.
Nice!! Keep it up!
Gosh Fred, I’m speechless. Thought about you Sunday as I covered 2 services. Glad to see you so happy! Keep up the good work.
