Worship Confessional #10, Sept 23 2007

We had a great Sunday at St. Simons Community Church. It was the closing week on our “Money Matters” series. David Wills from Atlanta, GA was the guest speaker. Once again we opened with the O’Jay’s version of “For the Love of Money”. Donald Trump never popped in to say “you’re fired”, which was a disappointment, but other than that – it was awesome. A bunch of characters are included in this week’s confessional video, including Todd who was apparently VERY HUNGRY. Whoever was scheduled to bring breakfast must have forgotten, but this was funny in light of the ongoing discussion about “taking care of your musicians” currently happening at TheWorshipCommunity.Com.
Taking some constructive feedback from some band members and overseers at church, I intentionally went back a bit and included some of the older, more familiar songs that were “happening” during the previous year or so before I arrived in March. This was the right thing to do, as those songs had an extra special “energy” and Joy said she felt like the corporate participation was powerful and more engaging.
Walk in: “For the Love of Money” (The O’Jays)
Song #1: O Taste and See (Brian and Jenn Johnson)
Song #2: Blessed Be Your Name (Matt Redman)
Song #3: Be Unto Your Name (Robin Mark)
Song#4: Jesus Paid it All (Passion/Northpoint Live version)
Closer: Take From Me my Life (3rd Day Arrangement)
Here’s the video for your enjoyment … how was YOUR SUNDAY?

I LOVE the Brian & Jenn Johnson record – good pick!
Yes, we were the smiling crew in that 3rd service. Blessed be your name was different, but good. All in all, it was great. I totally enjoyed it!
Was that Adam Sandler in the background?
I agree about keeping the arrangement of Blessed Be Your Name. You could tell that song had a history with Harriet that is meant to last.
Plus, like the Willie George ‘legacy” series stuff we’ve talked about, one day little Andrew McKinnon will be leading us in songs that you’ve done and that will be pretty amazing.
I’m a big fan of the green room confessionals. I like how other people are hanging out and the hazy lights gives it a dreamy effect. (I know that’s exactly what you were going for in the WC)
Also cool to see a WC so close to when you got done playing instead of the next day and to hear in your voice how pumped you still are after worship.
Great call on going for the people. I learned to lead worship at various church camps all over the country. Each camp has it’s own unique version of every song so I’ve my fair share of singing songs for the people and not for me.
I’m a huge fan of the Kristian Stanfil jam.
Nice infomercial at the end.
