Be Still … I’ve Gotta Brag on our Guys …
Posted on December 11th, 2007 in Church Life, Technology by Fred McKinnonHey Ya’ll …
“Be Still” … the title of our current sermon series at SSCC. It “was” going to be the title of my Christmas instrumental CD … sadly, like my previous efforts over the last humpteen million years, I failed at getting this instrumental finished. I’ve got 3 songs in the can, so maybe I can start now and have it ready for NEXT YEAR.
Anyway – I’m constantly overwhelmed at the talent God has blessed us with in the Tech Dept. Below is the sermon graphic that Chris Moncus created for the series. It’s the byproduct of one of those many Creative Team meetings where we brainstorm and talk about what needs to happen:

Isn’t that beautiful? Now, it gets better. We have a video trailer/open that we have used to promote this series, and Travis Paulding, our Tech Director pulled off an inspiring video. The idea came from a video they’d seen at Drive Conference (NorthPoint) and we tweaked it and made it our own.
After announcements, we move into a time of prayer, and then close by saying “Be Still” … and the lights go black in the room, with an awkward 10-second pause (you know how awkward 10-seconds of silence is, right!?) … and this video begins. After the video, I play some quiet, peaceful instrumental music, and eventually segue into an intimate arrangement of various Christmas carols for corporate singing. (there is no sound for the video, and that’s on purpose) So imagine being in worship, finishing prayer, having the lights go down, and just focusing on this video for 2-1/2 minutes, then listening for another 2-1/2 minutes to peaceful instrumental interludes, then softly being led into a time of singing. If last Sunday was any indication, it will be POWERFUL the next 2 weeks.
I’d prefer to just embed the YouTube video right here for you to click and see, but because Travis needs some link love and traffic, and he’s a nice guy .. I’m gonna break the cardinal rule of blogging and ask you to link away from here to view it (the stats say most of you will leave and not click the link) … so click the link … CLICK THE LINK … GO … WATCH, and leave Travis some comment love.
For the Kingdom,
Fred
