Worship Confessional #15, Sunday Feb 3, 2008

Posted on February 4th, 2008 in Worship Confessionals by Fred McKinnon

Hey Everyone,

Continuing this week in the “Face to Face” series (listen to sermon podcast) at SSCC … this week’s message was from John 4 .. the story about the Samaritan woman at the well.

The Song List:

1. Open: “Everlasting God” (iTunes link, from NorthPoint Live arr.)
2. Song #1: “O Taste and See” (iTunes link, from Brian & Jenn Johnson, from “We Believe”)
3. Song #2: “I Stand Amazed” (Traditional Hymn)
4. Song #3: “Jesus Paid it All” (iTunes link, from NorthPoint Live arr.)
5. Closer: “How He Loves Us” (Jesus Culture)

It was a great service and the best part was hearing the people of God singing loud and strong!

Here’s the video recap:

I absolutely LOVED the part of the service I was able to attend! A great Sunday AM! Oh, and Cyle added that she heard “How He Loves” and that the song really worked well with your voice ’cause you sound a lot like John Mark vocally. Good compliment. Hope you’re enjoying that c.d., btw. ;-)

Thanks Shannon (and Cyle) … that’s definitely a complement, and I guess it’s the south georgia coming out of us!

Sorry I didnt get to attend as I live in Oklahoma

sounds like a great day. we had an awesome worship service too. it was the first official Sunday with our new pastor. he was received with open arms by the congregation and both services ended with at the alter with families praying together for unity among their own families and among our church family. there have been issues there for the last year or so but we are planning to go forward not looking back from feb. 3rd on.

    Debby,
That’s awesome news – sounds like a promising future!

Sounded like a great service. I actually didn’t lead that much at our service. I let the rookies take over a little bit. It was great.

Sounds like a lot of fun! Did Jay do the Solo in Everlasting God like Mr.Brewster has in his recording?
Also what did you do with He Loves Us and the sloppy wet kiss part?

Maybe I’ve just listened to the original too many times, but I just can’t get into the Jesus Culture version. I do love the tone and effects on the electric guitar, but I really miss the dynamics of John Mark’s, which goes from sounding like you’re listening to him pour out his heart on the edge of his bed at home, to the cranking alt-country/garage rock of the energetic parts. Still trying though. I do like Jesus Culture’s version of other songs, though…

Yeah I know what you mean Shannon! I have both versions on my iPod and I listen to both. It all depend on my mood. If I am having prayer time and listening to ‘He Loves Us’ I go for John’s Version. If I am worshiping in my room I go for JesusCulture. I love both though!

    Hey Kevin -
Nope, Jay would be flattered that you asked if he really covered a Lincoln Brewster solo!

As for the 2nd Verse, we sang:
When heaven meets earth where no words can express …

    Definitely not as powerful!
