Update on Andrew
Posted on February 14th, 2008 in Family by Fred McKinnonHey Everyone -
Wow – thanks for all the prayers for our son, Andrew. He’s doing great … he’s got no clue about all of this. Wild, active, loud … that’s all he knows right now! If you missed the prayer request, and situation, it’s posted here.
We got up at 5:00 AM and left for Jacksonville a little after 6:00 … saw the surgeon at 8:00. It was a very short visit – she did an exam and could feel the mass and ordered a MRI. Since little Andrew (21 mos old) can’t be still for 30 seconds, much less 30 minutes, they’ll have to sedate him for the MRI, so we have to come back next Tuesday afternoon. It’s a little frustrating to have to bring in family from out of town (Thanks Me-Ma!) or schedule people to be with the kids, etc., and go back … but we understand.
So anyway – we continue to just pray that God would work a miracle – that whatever this is, it would just dissolve and go away. I’m sure that surgical removal probably isn’t super-risky, but I can imagine it’s delicate for anyone, especially a 21-month old.
It’s a great group down at Nemours … the MRI would be Tuesday, and they have their “x-ray council” on Wednesdays, when all the radiologists and surgeons get together in a big room and go over all their cases together, share the films, and discuss diagnosis and plan of action with all the other radiologists and surgeons.
On the other front – this couldn’t be happening at a more inconvenient time. Isn’t that the way it always is? For those who follow things regularly, you may recall we’re preparing for a massive transition into our new facility here at St. Simons Community Church. Our final service in our old facility in the “Shops at Demere” is Feb 24 and our opening Night of Worship/Consecreation Ceremony is Friday, Feb 29 and our first worship service in the new building is March 2. This coming Tuesday (MRI day) is the day all the tech/band/music people would begin moving all the sound equipment in, line checking, begin mixing monitors, setting up the stage, etc. So far the staff has been supportive, and I’m grateful for the grace they are giving.
I’ve been so blessed by the community – I’m seeing incoming links galore from friends, bloggers, getting IM’s, emails, comments, and “tweets” via Twitter.
Thanks you all – we love ya!
Fred
