Update on Andrew’s MRI

Posted on February 20th, 2008 in Family, Life and Family by Fred McKinnon

Hey Everyone -

Well, we made the trek to Jacksonville yesterday for Andrew’s M.R.I. Thanks for all the prayers.

He did great. The fact that he had no food for 18+ hours didn’t seem to bother him, and we were able to keep giving him apple juice or gatorade all the way up to 11:00 AM that day. A few breaths of the “happy mask” (the term I coined the mask the anesthesiologist gives you to send you to la-la land) and he was fast asleep.

We thought the MRI would only be for around 30 minutes, but they put in an I.V. and kept him down for over an hour, so I guess they got plenty of pictures.

They apparently looked at the MRI today because the surgeon has asked us to come back down on Monday for a consultation. Honestly, the going back-and-forth to Jacksonville has been one of the hardest issues here because we have to find people to take care of the other 3 kids. We asked the nurse if we could just get the “news” over the phone, but she said the Dr. required the consult to be “in person” so she could show us the MRI. The nurse encouraged Joy that this was standard procedure. Sheez, you can’t help but wish they would tell you “SOMETHING” .. at least a “well, we’ll see you on Monday, but don’t worry – it looks like everything is going to be just fine”. Oh well. We already know that everything is going to be “just fine”, and our hope and faith is in the Lord.

So, keep us in your prayers and we’ll have a report by late Monday evening. I’ll have to come straight home from Jacksonville and fire up our music rehearsal – we’re rehearsing Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights in anticipation of our first official “service” in our new facility – a Night of Worship/Dedication on Friday, Feb 29.

So, below is a video of Andrew in the waiting room before the MRI. As you can see, he’s apparently not concerned, haha!

Here’s our piece of pumkin pie in recovery … drunk as a skunk, Joy having to hold up his little head from falling off the bed .. he was “OUT OF IT”, and honestly, it was quite hysterical.

Thanks again for all those prayers!
Fred (Joy and the fam)
