SSCC – The Stage is Nearly Set

Posted on February 22nd, 2008 in Church Life by Fred McKinnon

Hey Everyone -

I’ve been trying to not blog and put up horrible pictures of our incredibly awesome new facility at SSCC as long as I could handle it. Thus far, all the professional, good pictures that I have access to are months old. I can’t stand it any longer.

So disclaimer – I took this pic with my Treo Phone. It’s dark and grainy, although the room was pretty dark already because the house lights were down.

This is a shot of our stage from the sound booth. Maybe I should call it a “technology” booth – because there is sound, lighting, recording, etc. Projection and video are being controlled from a different room off the side of the auditorium.

Anyway – you can kinda see how it’s shaping up. The drum risers are still naked – I’ve got black skirting on order for them. Our new piano is back on the right corner. The wooden wall in the background just in front of the curtains are the beginning stages of a big set that is being built. It will be about 12 feet high and go all the way across that opening. It will be a set like a “coffee house” … and there will be some furniture, counters, bar stools, etc., out in front. We’ll be ditching music stands and some of the other stuff so that ultimately, our goal is that the band interacts with the “coffee house” type set and everything just “looks like it belongs”.

This pic cuts off the two sides – so you can imagine the two rows of chairs you see also happening on both the left and right sides. We put about 600+ chairs in the room for starters, but we still have about 350+ chair at the old building that will be moved over after our final service in the “Shops at Demere” this Sunday.

Glory to God!

Can you tell I’m excited? And if you look closely at the screens, you can makeout the image … anyone wanna guess what that is?
Fred

Fred, I don’t have a clue what that is on the projector. But I am jealous of the huge stage area you get to use.
