Andrew’s MRI Results

Posted on February 25th, 2008 in Family, Life and Family by Fred McKinnon

Hey Everyone -

I had a blog written last night, set to “publish” around noon today asking for prayer as we drove to Jacksonville to meet with the surgeons to find out what’s going on with Andrew.

Just got a phone call from the hospital – seems Dr. Dokler got called into emergency surgery so they canceled our appointment and will call us back later today or tomorrow to reschedule.

At first, I was frustrated – you know, we’re just ready to go down there and find out what the MRI showed – get the results, and plan of action. Then, I took a moment and thought “well, at least my kid isn’t the one in emergency surgery”.

We always have SOMETHING to be thankful for, right?

Fred

We always have SOMETHING to be thankful for, right?

    Yes we do!

And I feel quite certain that we don’t really even know what it is that we should be thankful for.

We have the ability to see some things we know we should be thankful for.

We are allowed to see some things we should be thankful for.

But we know not what tomorrow holds…
We do, however, know who holds tomorrow.

And we certainly know who it is that holds our hand.

I found many lessons when studying Daniel’s life this morning while praying about your life situation with Andrew…

    SAVING DANIEL

The angel explains his coming to Daniel
and the opposition he faced on the way.

    Then he said to me,
    “Do not fear, Daniel,
    for from the first day
that you set your heart to understand,
and to humble yourself before your God,
    your words were heard

Every day I walk in Your Light
Though sometimes a crushing blow in the night
Comes hard against me; I find release
In saving Daniel Your lesson of peace
    O Daniel… O Daniel… O Daniel…
    Saving Daniel

I pray for wisdom and pray for strength…
Daniel’s in the Lion’s den; my knees get weak.
Father’s up above; my life in His hands.
These are important things; I try to understand
    O Daniel… O Daniel… O Daniel…
    Saving Daniel

    Holy Father, up above…
Shine down upon us Lord with Your love
Cover us all with Your right hand
Giving us help now so we can stand

I trust you though my heart it might break
Help me, Jesus, it’s not too late
Guide my questions; guard my will
I surrender Daniel and trust You still.
    O Daniel… O Daniel… O Daniel…
    Saving Daniel

    Holy Father, up above…
Shine down upon us Lord with Your love
Cover us all with Your right hand
Giving us help now so we can stand

I’m hungry for the Spirit’s power
I need a healing in this hour
Firmly I’m bound by all I believe
Open and ready am I to receive

I’m searching now, Lord, show me Your hand
All that I need is Yours to command
Claiming the promises gleaned from Your Word
Lifting my voice; let my prayer be heard.
    O Daniel… O Daniel… O Daniel…
    Saving Daniel

For He is the living God and steadfast forever Daniel 6:26

    *******************
Don’t mean to hog…but wanted to add something after going back again to the Word. I always like to go back again to the Word as the final authority when I write down the words to a song that I feel God has given me, especially because the Holy Spirit seems to give them as a “Word” for someone (maybe even me!).

On my calendar today (that I hadn’t looked at it yet before I read your blog), a little daily calendar given to me by one of my piano students…it has the date, no year. Anyway, I looked at today’s date. It has a section at the top I think they call “promises” and the a bold word in the middle, then a scripture at the bottom. So for February 25th, here it is.

It is difficult to let go and really trust the future to God.

    The Word cautions that no man knows what a day may bring forth;

so it is actually impossible to truly plan accurately for tomorrow.

Instead, you should trust God for tomorrow.

    FUTURE

Being confident of this very thing,
that he which hath begun a good work in you
will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ!
    Philippians 1:6

When they had you wait until Monday to find out the results Ken and I thought it could mean it was nothing they were much concerned about because they act fast if it’s emergency conditions. Yes, I’m thankful that none of our children are in emergency surgery too–that is a great heart attitude. We love you guys, and our hearts and prayers are with you.
