My issue is If and When they sell out, this paragraph is a problem. It means that all our stuff doesn't comply if you can't change frequencies to get out of the 700 range...

“Any consumer device that the FCC allows to operate in the “White Spaces” must include circuitry and software that allows it to detect and avoid both TV broadcasts and wireless microphone signals. The FCC is currently testing this avoidance technology, and it is unlikely to authorize new devices unless they can adhere to these rigid rules and their performance is verified under real world conditions."

My brother Parker actually wrote the FCC and they gladly calmed all our fears. We both have been using wireless guitar rigs and we got all the rumors. Gladly they were all false. Even the 700 range is not completely being sold. What has been utilized for wireless audio is being spared specifically for those uses.

I just read this at lunch and then saw you talking about it as well.

The big issue for us is replacement. We have equipment now that will not adjust and is stuck in the 700mhz range and that will bite when we've got to eat budget up to replace that gear.

We at Lectrosonics are glad to see Shure doing this. It has been our position all along that "the sky is not falling" and although there are many unknowns about the upcoming RF spectrum changes, we don't see a reason for anyone to panic or "just wait and see" before considering a wireless system. There are many good-quality systems on the market today that are likely to work well for many years to come. Of course there are also systems that will not fare will with broadband noise in the RF spectrum. People considering a wireless system should read up and learn about these issues, and more about what the existing technical solutions are before coming to any hard and fast conclusions.
