Finally – Andrew’s MRI Results

Posted on March 4th, 2008 in Family, Life and Family by Fred McKinnon

Praise God!

Our 21-month old, Andrew ….

he doesn’t seem to have a tumor, a mass, a hernia, or anything threatening.

We drove through the torrents of rain today to have our consultation (literally, like about 5 minutes, tops, which will cost about $400) with the surgeon down at Nemous in Jacksonville. The news was good.

Apparently, the MRI showed it wasn’t really a solid mass, tumor, or cyst. It appears to be really bad inflammation. It’s under the skin, and in the fatty area of the butt (kid’s got a fat butt, you say?). The radiologist and surgeon all feel that it’s inflammation from either an infection (that is most likely gone now) or possibly from some trauma such as falling down on a toy or something. I suspect it’s from falling on something, because when we originally saw the lump, it was somewhat bruised. If you could see these kids playing in the bathtub, which is covered with toys – you’d see how that can happen quickly.

Dr. Dokler confirmed what Joy and I have been saying for over a week – that this “lump” is definitely getting smaller.

Prognosis? Do nothing. Watch it … hopefully, it will continue to shrink and absorb back into the body, all on it’s own. No surgery recommended. She said that if it’s still there after 3-4 weeks … we can keep watching it. If it doesn’t go away anytime soon, we can look at surgical options … but for now … just leave it alone, and watch it (pray it) go away.

With news like that, the 2-1/2 hour drive for a 5-minute consult just didn’t bother me. Praise God from Whom all blessings flow.

Thanks to all of YOU for praying with us!
Fred

Good to hear. Such an odd thing, our bodies. Let the thing “absorb back into the body”? How on earth? Good thing God’s in charge.

Thanks for all your help at Elevate tonight.

    Now, that IS good news.

Now, if Kenimer will QUICKLY get over his Strep, and whatever Cyle is catching will 1.) not be serious, and 2.) not be caught by Tucker.

    Shannon,
In Jesus’ Name, may Kenimer be healed and recover quickly, quicken Cyle so that she does not get sick, and protect little Tucker!

    Amen!

We’ve been rejoicing and praising God since we got the good news yesterday afternoon! Can’t say I’m really surprised, however, because I believe the Lord gave us peace from day one that He was dealing with this. “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord of Hosts” (Zechariah 4: 6).

Fred, I echo what your Dad said. I believe I told you and Joy that I kept hearing “all is well” when I was praying. I will CONTINUE to pray that the ‘whatever’ (even tho harmless) will continue to self-absorb and go completely away so that will be the end of it! God is so good. I am so thankful but got a check in my spirit about whether or not I could say “God is so good” if the news had been bad! I am glad I was not put to that test, but He is good and to be praised no matter what.

That is excellent news Fred! God has great things for each of us IF we will be submissive to Him and believe. I was praying for your son with the belief that all would be found well. Susan has just gotten great news of a healing of her jaw – she was told that she needed surgery to enlongate her jaw to help with TMJ pain but did not accept that. She prayed that God would cause her jaw to self align and it did. And only in one month!!! How AWESOME is our God!!!
