5Questions with The Worship Journals
Posted on July 17th, 2008 in Faith, Worship Q&A by Fred McKinnon
[ATTN: RSS readers, a special word for you at the bottom of this message!!]
Recently I was asked by Bridget Willard to participate in the “5Questions” series they are having over at TheWorshipJournals.Com.
The Worship Journals was started by a guy named Conrad Abraham … we’ve never met in person, but have mutual friends from the Marietta Vineyard. I’m subscribed to their site via RSS and there are some great interviews with other worship leaders as well.
The 5 questions were:
- What does worship mean to you?
- What do you think happens when you worship?
- What causes you to worship?
- How is worship displayed in your life?
- What is your favorite song and why
I’m grateful for the opportunity to participate in the interview. My 5 answers are posted at TWJ … so, what are YOUR answers to these questions? If time is rushed, feel free to only answer 1 or 2 … but everyone participate ! (that means YOU, my wonderful RSS-Readers … c’mon … click the link, go to the site … leave a comment … YOU CAN DO IT.)
For the Kingdom,
Fred

Hi Fred,
Thanks for passing along this resource. I’m planning to check it out later today and add my answers to the 5 Questions.
Hey, have a great time in Austin next week at the Worship Leaders Conference. I know it will be amazing!
Blessings,

Encouraging the daily praise and worship of Jesus Christ because worship is a daily lifestyle… not just a weekly event!
[...] Fred McKinnon just shared a link to his answers to five questions on worship he was asked by The Worship Journals and asked that we comment on his post with the answers to our questions. I thought this would make a better blog post than a comment so here we go: [...]
Hey David, Thanks … yeah – wish I could see you there, man!
If you know Chaz, you pretty much have a mutual friend with everyone…
Fred, love the answers, love your heart. We have friends in St. Simons and visit now and then. Will have to look you up and visit your church when we are in the area.

Conrads last blog post..5Questions with Fred McKinnon
1. What does worship mean to you?
A: More than just singing songs with a catchy melody or rhythm, worship is something that has to come from the spirit. To me its a back and forth “wooing” It’s the Lord wooing me and in response I pour out my heart and soul. It’s also in the everyday living of life that brings glory to God. Giving praises and hallelujahs at all times.
2. What do you think happens when you worship?
A: When I worship, I feel that I experience a deeper revelation of God’s heart for me and for all His children. We experience healing and love and a sense of fullness. But the other side is that worship is not just for me. I think that God is pleased when our worship focuses on him. We can join the angels in singing praise. I believe that our worship opens up our spirit to truly HEAR and KNOW God’s heart and know who he is and exalts HIM.
3. What causes you to worship?
A. Everything. I remember when I was a child, I would sing praise to God for everything from a seeing butterfly to the pretty colors on a cereal box! (I know- that may be odd but I was 6)Even to this day, I am captured by the smallest things in creation. I have learned to worship in my weakness, worship in my trials, worship in my blessings, worship in my peace.
4. How is worship displayed in your life?
A: Speaking blessings, Praising God in all things, having peace, and most obvious according to my friends is that I almost ALWAYS have a song in my heart and on my lips. They sometimes tease me for it.
5. What is your favorite song and why
A: I have too many favorite songs. But one is “I Wait” from Alford Zion because it almost exactly describes my heart for the Lord.
-I sing, I sing to you my love song. Adoration flows from the chamber of my heart.
I Praise, praise you with my love song. This symphony inside me resounds with endless love.
-I wait. I minister to you.
I wait. worship is my life.
Forever I will sing. I wait.
-Watching and Waiting, Anticipating!
o how I love to worship at your feet.
And the music is so anointed. at the sound of the very first note my heart just beats so fast and I feel I am in the very chambers of my Lord.
Blessings!
Also one of my favorite songs that is more of a praise or directly about God:
“Because of who you are” Juanita Bynum has done it so has Martha Munizzi
Now that I think about it,…asking my favorite song is not fair because i love any song that really expresses love for God and declares WHO he is!
