Is this your kind of WOMAN?
Posted on August 2nd, 2008 in From the Word by Fred McKinnon“You women! Mean to the poor,
cruel to the down-and-out!
Indolent and pampered, you demand of your husbands,
‘Bring us a tall, cool drink!’”
Wow, that’s what I call a rebuke. So, is this YOUR kind of WOMAN?

No way!
This is my kind of girl:
She’s that kinda girl
Different from the ones before
‘Cause I know she loves the Lord
She’s that kinda girl
Virtuous in every way
The kinda girl that makes you say
“I hope she comes my way”
(and she did, I love my wife!!)
The beginning of this verse refers to the ladies as cows, so this is definitely not my type of woman.
I looked up this verse and found out that the women Amos was targeting were the wives of the wealthy men of Bashan. They domineered their husbands, and the husbands actually did the harm supporting the luxurious lifestyles of their wives. They were living it up while poverty and suffering occurred around them. At times, I am just as guilty. I may not be asking for a tall, cool drink, but I’ve spent more than my fair share at Starbucks!
