I agree with you and disagree with Ron Kenoly (even though I have a lot of respect and admiration for him). I think sometimes worship songwriters and pastors overly dissect and read into lyrics.

Every time I sing that bridge it reminds me how it is way beyond my understanding the sacrifice the Father made for us.

totaaly agree theologically… big difference between an academic “know” and an emotional “know”… I can never really know because it wasn’t me who did it!

Burned out on the song… yeah… I admit, we’ve played it numerous times, but no doubt of its place on the list (though I would have thought “The Heart of Worship” would have topped it).

Regarding the theology of the song, I recently realized that – though the song is called “Here I am to Worship” – it’s really not ABOUT ‘worship’, lyrically, but it’s all about the atonement. And I agree whole-heartedly with you: the bridge is the ‘emotional’ highlight of the song – the ‘know’ there isn’t an academic one, but a personal heart-cry… we can’t fully comprehend it. Though I am burned-out a bit by the song, I can definitely see the power it has, and still use it on occasion.

ok, so I may get shot down for this opinion…I really really dislike this song. Lyrics are fine, It’s something about the music that just feels depressing. From the first time I heard it, I have felt this way!
