This Week, Hanna?

Posted on September 2nd, 2008 in Church Life, Events, Music by Fred McKinnon

Hey Everyone,

This is a BUSY WEEK.  I’m supposed to be leading my first “Night of Worship” this Sunday Night, Sept. 7 at SSCC.  I’m very excited about it – we have rehearsals tonight, tomorrow, and Thursday night … I’m finishing horn charts, arrangements, etc … probably won’t have much time for long blogs this week ….

If you are in the Southeast Georgia, Northeast Florida area – make plans to come and worship with us this coming Sunday night, September 7 at 7:00 PM … weather permitting (see below)

On top of that … all eyes here are on this:

This morning in staff meeting, we discussed potential evacuation plans.  Should we receive voluntary and/or mandatory evacuations later this week, we’ll likely be canceling both our Sunday AM and the “Night of Worship” service on Sunday PM.

For now, we’re in limbo … planning ahead, assuming this storm will do like all the others on this track – which is hit that warm gulf stream outside of Jacksonville, FL and turn due north, skirt along past the Southeast Georgia coast, and clobber the Carolinas.  I pray it just dissipates!

Any storm stories for you?

  1. Hey Fred,

I live in Colorado now, but I’m from Mobile, Alabama. I’ve got tons of hurricane stories, but I’ll share just one with ya. Hurricane Fredrick, Cat 4, Sept. 1979. I was 7 but I still remember it like yesterday. No water or power for 3 wks. Ate Vienna Sausages for 3 wks. I can’t even look at them now. Most of my family still lives in Mobile.
Thanks Fred for the great blog. I really enjoy it.

We’ve lived in the Keys for three years now, and God has kept us safe from any storm (natural or super-natural, come to think of it!). I tried to blog our family’s experience for Fay, but she was a dud, too. Oh well.
