Sunday Setlists #14 – Worship Service Recaps
Posted on October 26th, 2008 in Church Life, Faith, Sunday Setlists, Worship Confessionals by Fred McKinnon
Hey Everyone!
So it’s nearly 5:30 PM EST – and since I’ve already gotten emails, text messages, and tweets about Sunday Setlists, I figured I’d get my lazy self off the bed and upstairs to type this out! Truth is, I love doing Sunday Setlists, but if I don’t do it right after church, nap time trumps.
What’s “Sunday Setlists”? It’s the place where you can share your worship recaps … whether a written review or a video worship confessional, we share our ideas, song lists, sermon topics and whatever else you wish to disclose. It’s a great network that grows each week and offers some great ideas for worship.
The rules are important – they are what makes it work. Last week, at least 10 of you had your links deleted because you didn’t follow da rules. So … “follow da rules”. (everyone smiles)
Da Rules:
1. Blog about your Sunday. Share your worship music setlists, sermon topics, and overviews.
2. In your actual blog, you must link back to THIS POST, and share that you’re participating in “Sunday Setlists”. It doesn’t matter how you word it – most say something like “I’m posting this review in collaboration with other worship leaders in the “Sunday Setlists” blog carnival at FredMcKinnon.Com.
URL: http://www.fredmckinnon.com/myblog/2008/10/26/sunday-setlists-14/
3. After completing #1 and #2 above, come back here (you should be able to click the link in your blog entry you just made, right?) and fill out the Mister Linky below. This is where is must get confusing. Don’t put your blog’s homepage link. Don’t put MY link again. Put the URL (Link) to YOUR Sunday Setlists post on your blog. (You don’t have to title your blog entry “Sunday Setlists”, btw!)
4. Leave a comment, letting us know that you’re participating, and visit the other sites in the Mr. Linky!
*if your review doesn’t include a link back to this page and/or if your link in the Mr. Linky points anywhere other than your “Sunday Setlist” post, your link in the Mr. Linky will be eaten by the Mr. Linky Robot from ….

I really wanted to do a video worship confessional today, but we didn’t get home from lunch ’til after 2:00 PM, I had a U-Haul to unload, and needed some rest. So here’s my text recap:
Walk-In: Hosanna (Paul Baloche) – Key of G
Used the loop I created back in this post. Really wanting to make this one of our “go to” songs for the next season, so we’re using this a lot.
Opening: Meet With Me (led by Kim) – Key of G
We did it pretty fast – much faster than most recordings that are more laid back.
God of This City (only the 2nd time we’ve done this, no special video, but great stories prior to singing)
Key of C
Be Unto Your Name (the old Robin Mark, Revival in Belfast version - can’t get enough of this song!)
Key of C
Special: “Arise and Be Comforted” (Kim Dixon, from the Grand Piano)
(Watermark Arr.) (not sure of key)
Sermon: David spoke on Week 2 of Dating, Sex, and Marriage. He was in rare form. He made more jokes and “I can’t believe he just said that” moments than I recall in quite a while. Somehow, he took a serious issue (re: dating and sexual intimacy) and made it hilarious. It will be live on the podcast in a day or two.
Closer: “Center” (Kim)
Key of D
Walk-Out: “Hosanna” (Paul Baloche)
Everything went great except for these hiccups.
1. for whatever reason, all of us constantly forgot the lyrics on the Pre-Chorus of “Hosanna”. We’d keep singing “Cause In Your Presence” (the 2nd line) instead of “Cause When we See You”). It became quite humorous.
2. I learned that you must be careful about what all is happening on your laptop when using it for loops. As I opened it back up during the closing prayer of the early service, the Sound guys had it turned on – and as it awakened from it’s “sleep mode”, I had 2 very loud iCal reminders beep about some Newcomer Pastoral Followup meetings I had in between services. Doh!
Your turn – share your recap!
