Fred, this is one of my all time favorite songs. I meditate on the lyrics quite a bit. There are so many good lines, including the ones mentioned here. I love the line that says:

The judgments of Your holy law
With me can have nothing to do

I think one of the most simply complex aspects of our faith is that God’s HOLINESS doesn’t change towards us. His standards (the standards of the Law) remain even after we’ve confessed and believed.

God didn’t become this super sappy push over when Jesus came. He is still the same passionate, Holy, perfect God.

If I were to stand before Him in judgment right now, HIS standards would be the same. That’s why I love the next few lines:

My Savior’s obedience and blood
Hide all my transgressions from view.

Jesus is the mediator. His obedience and blood are what keeps God from viewing and judging me as a “standard breaker.” What a gift!

I love it, and I do get the point, but technically, Jesus' obedience and blood don't just hide our transgressions from view: they are completely washed away! Having said that, I'd still sing it and be moved by it. Kit Palmers last blog post..It’s a Conspiracy!

Thanks … I realize I don’t think about it enough. It’s quite humbling. “My Savior’s OBEDIENCE and BLOOD hide ALL MY TRANSGRESSIONS from view” (emphasis mine). Whoa. Praise God from Whom All blessings flow.
