I Almost Died This Morning

Written by Fred McKinnon on April 28, 2009 – 8:53 AM -

Last night I downed a dose of NyQuil for the 2nd night in a row.  I went to bed, hoping to wake up free of this horrific head cold and congestion.  Before going to sleep, I posted one last Twitter message that said:

OK – Night 2 of NyQuil, Tomorrow morning at 6:00 AM my life will change. For the better? We’ll see – will blog it in the AM (if I’m able)”

My alarm went off at 5:30 – way too early.  But I’d already committed to it, and off I went.

Today I began a 9-week venture called “Outdoor Regimen”.  It’s an outdoor, boot-camp style cross training class, led by fitness instruction Eric Taylor.  I’ve blogged about my weight, my physique, and the conviction I’ve had about my body.  I finally committed to do something about it.  I shelled out some serious cashola which will help me feel the pain in more ways than one.  I’ve got a crew who is holding me accountable.

I thought I might die this morning – but I survived.  Session 2 is right around the corner, and I’m already dreading it.  But this is something I’ve just got to do.

19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own,20 for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.  (ESV – YouVersion.Com)

Needless to say, I GOT MY BUTT KICKED.

Monday Muse – I Am Most Likely To Sin When I …

Written by Fred McKinnon on April 27, 2009 – 8:30 AM -

Hey Gang,

Last week I kicked off the week with a question on Twitter.  I asked “What is God speaking to you” (3 words or less).
My Twitter @reply and FaceBook account went crazy with answers.

I decided to kickoff each week with something for us to muse.

muse: to think or meditate, to comment thoughtfully

Monday Muse:

“I am most likely to sin when I ….”

Hey Ya’ll,

My Worship Recap for St. Simons Community Church

Today was one of those days where I intentionally scheduled myself OFF the stage.  Turns out it was a good thing because I’m feeling pretty crappy right now – sinus, pollen, cold – just wiped out, and so ready to go to sleep. Read more »

FreePlay Friday: What Gets You Up?

Written by Fred McKinnon on April 24, 2009 – 11:00 AM -

free-play-friday-2
(this FreePlay Friday logo designed by Russ Hutto)

Hey everybody,

IT’s FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!

During my time of mentoring this week with Randy Elrod, this simple question kept coming up … and I realized, it’s not necessarily the easiest question to answer.

So I ask you,

“what gets you up in the morning”?

(and no, I don’t mean your alarm clock).

Passion – Drive – Purpose?

Dave Ramsey’s Town Hall For Hope – TONIGHT

Written by Fred McKinnon on April 23, 2009 – 10:09 AM -

I’m so excited about this.  I’m bummed because I can’t attend a live location of the telecast, but I’ve got my DVR setup to record it.  (I hope – DVR says 8:00 – 9:00 on Fox Business is the Dave Ramsey Show, followed by Neil Cavudo … so I’m recording both)

If you’re tired of all the negativity, if you’re tired of all the government intervention, if you want to be inspired, tune in.

For more details, or to find a church that is hosting the live telecast, go to:
www.townhallforhope.com

What’dya say we gather here on the blog tonight and discuss what is said?
Fred
