Thanks, CCLITV!
Written by Fred McKinnon on April 16, 2009 – 9:43 PM -
Hey, just found out that one of our songs, “Though I Can’t See You” was featured on CCLITV.Com today. It’s an incredible worship song written by Mack Tucker that we recorded in 2005 during the “Worship Under the Stars” event. You can see other friends on here including Mandy Thompson, Jay Sellers (twitter), and Shannon Lewis among others.
Please go checkout the song and give it a good rating. Of course if you enjoy the tune and wish to use it in your worship services, the chord chart is now available in CCLI’s SongSelect.
Thanks, CCLI!

Ministry Poll – What do you dislike the most …
Written by Fred McKinnon on April 15, 2009 – 8:08 AM -This post is targeted to those in ministry, but anyone is free to answer as it relates to your profession.
What do you “dislike” the most about your job, ministry, role?
This isn’t a question to cause strife – it’s a standard question that ANY GOOD BOSS or EXECUTIVE would ask his personnel in my opinion.
For me, I think it’s the reality that I’ll never please everyone.
Like most of us, I want to make everybody happy, I want everyone to love every song, every style, every tempo, every choice. Being in music ministry makes that extra hard. The music is considered one of the most (if not THE most) subjective aspects of a worship service.
Every single week, I have to come to terms with the reality that there are those who didn’t like my choices. And I dislike it, because I wish it didn’t have to be that way.
What is it about your role in ministry, your job/profession that you dislike the most, and why?

Break Free – Media Elements
Written by Fred McKinnon on April 14, 2009 – 8:13 AM -We started a new series this past Sunday (Easter) called “Break Free” and it deals with breaking free from our fears. Week 1 was directly tied into the death and more importantly, the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
One of my great honors in working at SSCC is the company I keep with the staff. Our Tech/Media Department is absolutely jam up.
The series graphic was created by Chris Moncus. I’d like to invite you to checkout the Sermon Intro video opener that our Tech Director, Travis Paulding created. Rather than embed it here, I wanted to send him some traffic and link love. Your tech guys will appreciate the detail he gives on how it was created.
Check it out, and before you leave – be sure and follow these dudes. While you’re at it, you may want to follow our pastor on Twitter and our Church on Twitter. To listen to the series, tune into the podcast.

My “Sunday Setlists” for St. Simons Community Church
Wow, what a glorious day. I think we had at least 500-600 visitors. I’m guessing we had between 1800-2000 adults this morning – both services were completely packed. We had an unusual set design, kicking off our series called “Break Free” on fear … our stage set was a dunegon, complete with torches, bars, stockades, shackles and chains. Not your typical “Easter Lillies” set.
Extended Walk-in Music:
Glory Hallelujah (G) – ole’ school, fast gospel song, led by Harriet
Shackles (Gm) – classic funk/rock groove – Shannon Lewis joined Kim Dixon singing the solo verses and completely tore it up.
Opening Set:
Happy Day (C) – Tim Hughes (led by Shannon)
For All You’ve Done (E) – Hillsongs (led by Fred)
Second Set:
Mighty to Save (A) – Hillsongs (led by Fred)
Shout to the Lord (A) – Hillsongs (went from Chorus of Mighty to Save directly into the Chorus of “Shout to the Lord”, it was powerful, and gave me chills, led by Fred)
Special Music:
The Glorious Impossible (C) – Carl Cartee (AMAZING SONG)
(led by Shannon)
Sermon: Break Free, Part 1 (Fear)
(sermon will be available on podcast at www.sscommunitychurch.com later this week)
Closing Song:
In Christ Alone (D) – Townend/Getty (Harriet led)
It really was an awesome day for us, and I’m sure it was for you as well!
Your turn … post your comment below and share about your worship service. If you blog about it, be sure and link back here (see rules above) and enter the full URL to your entry below in this Mr. Linky. (remember, no homepage links allowed, such as myblog.wordpress.com or myblog.blogspot.com, etc … if you are unsure what to do, publish your blog, then go back to your blog, click the title, and copy THAT URL)

Written by Fred McKinnon on April 10, 2009 – 2:17 PM -
Friday – April 10 …
Beautiful, gorgeous day outside.
I’m spending it doing … finances.
Finished app for refinance on our home. 4.625% fixed. Yes.
Entering bills/receipts for HPP. Yuck.
Working on taxes. Almost done.
Figuring out Joy’s retirement accounts that spread out from here to Virginia. Yuck.
Fruity Pebbles for breakfast. Yum.
McDonalds for lunch. Yuck
McDonalds for lunch because my wife and kids were there. WORTH IT.
