Redneck Worship Leader: True Story Tuesday?

Posted on May 20th, 2009 in Redneck Worship Leader by Fred McKinnon

So, sometimes I post things about the “other side of me” … the real side, that good ole’ boy who grew up in the sticks.  “I can skin a buck and run a trotline, and a country boy can survive”.  (actually the Pastor who hired me for my first full-time position said he was looking for a guy who could do those things, no kidding, right Craig?)

Anyway, so in my hometown of McRae, GA – we had to find things to do on the weekends.  Today I stumbled across a blog that I didn’t even know existed.  Well, I wouldn’t say “stumbled across” … I was summoned there after hearing about it on FaceBook.

I can’t imagine who the “Fred” is in this supposed “True Story Tuesday” post … but I ain’t saying nothing.

Check it out, and tell me what YOU think.  In the meantime, I just think I’ll share some of my own “true” stories of my own, personal Mayberry.  Is anyone out there interested in some good ole’ stories?

    Fred,

I didn’t know you grew up in McRae. I grew up in Eastman, not too far from you and we would come down to the Little Ocmulgee State Park a good bit. That’s cool.

You don’t tell any on me and I won’t tell any on you, brother.

    That was truly eerie!

    Fred,

Man, that story brought back a ton of memories from “back in the day” for me growing up in Claxton! Never forked anyone’s yard, but me and the guys were pretty well known for our work with TP and road construction saw horses (the ones with the flashing lights).

Hope one of your stories covers the topic of snipe hunting!

One of our friends took a guy snipe hunting and he caught one. Problem was, when they opened the sack he had a skunk!

Here snipe snipe … oh yeah, I’ll remember that one.

Hey Fred, should you tell them the story of a lunatic standing out in the road with a gun shouting how he was going to kill all of us?

    Or about hookie?

    Or about M-80s and mailboxes?

One of my favorites is when me and another guy had a mannequin from someones yard during halloween and dropped it in front of a car late at night.

Thought that lady was going to die right there on the road.

lunatic in the road with a gun – would that be our neighbor down the street? Gosh, I guess that makes TWICE I was held up with a gun for screwing around.

Def. should throw in some ferris stories.
