My Worship Recap for St. Simons Community Church
Today marked the first official “Sunday” of the summer season here in the Golden Isles. All of the schools are out and everyone is taking off to the beach and pools. In spite of this, we had a good crowd in both our 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM services today.
We continued on the final week of our 2-week “Celebrate Life” series where we are honoring God, our volunteers, ministries, and sharing testimonies of what God has done through the ministry of SSCC over the last year. Our music reflected this “celebration” theme, as you will see:
Walk In: “Celebration” (Kool and the Gang)
Opener: “Again I Say Rejoice” (Israel Houghton)
*we had trumpet and sax again on these songs and it was awesome having live horns!
Worship Set:
Amazing Grace/My Chains Are Gone (led by Shannon Lewis)
Hosanna (Hillsong) – led by Callie Fendig, returning college student
Sermon:
David’s sermon had multiple live and video testimonies woven throughout showcasing various ministries and celebrations of what God has done at SSCC in the last year.
Closer: “I Will Never Be” (Hillsong)
This song is an older Hillsong ballad that has become somewhat of a “theme” song for our church as “Never be the same again” is a tagline on our logo and marketing materials. It’s also our heartfelt desire – that people would be impacted by Christ and “never be the same again”.
That’s a wrap for us. Now it’s time for you to share. Enter your comment and link below. Be sure your link goes DIRECTLY to your “Sunday Setlists” blog post or worship confessional, and not to your blog’s homepage, please.

Fred,
Sorry about taking up two positions. Mr. Linky added extra stuff to my link (or perhaps I did) at anyrate the second link is right!
Kip,
no probs – if you copy/paste from within the wordpress admin on the URL, that will happen, it always adds the last part twice – i always have to fix that on mine, too.
BTW – the link of the “Sunday Setlists” banner on your blog where you are trying to link back here doesn’t work – your text link at the bottom if perfect, but the link on the logo is broken.
Thanks!
Fred
Thanks, Fred! I hope everyone had a great week, and if you’re in driving distance to Durham, North Carolina, check out Re:Sound this Friday night

Hey FRED!
Have you done a take off on the FRED videos? Having you do a FRED type video for the BLOG Carnival might be the best way to promote SS! Just kidding

Well, I almost made the top 10!
Looks like a great set – Hosanna is on my list to do once we have enough people to do it justice. We just need a bass player – anyone in the area?
Have a relaxing Sunday and a great week!
Hey Fred, great to see you folks have joined the live webcast world. We have been at it for about 4 years now, and it has been an amazing ministry.
We haven’t done “I Will Never Be” for a very long time. Got a feeling that it will show up in a set list very soon!
Blessings,
…Randy
I couldn’t find where to post on your setlist. Just wanted to let you know that it sounded great, what’s happening over your way.
Hey, did some maintenance on the site and forgot to reenable guest posts! Should be good now!

Older Hillsongs. I was playing some of that a couple of weeks ago. My son was a bit suspicious of whether or not it was really Hillsongs or not. I assured him it was. Sounds like things are moving forward at your fellowship. That’s really cool. Again, thanks for hosting the setlists weekly, Fred.
A great start to summer in SSCC!

Do love Hosanna. I think I might have said that before.
Well, I’ve managed to write the setlist, I was singing at the morning service for the first time in almost 2 years. So mistakes I’ve made are all because I’m not very good in the morning!!
I don’t think I know ‘I will never be’

I love the song “I will never Be” but never got around to using it…thanks for the reminder that it’s out there and there is good, unused material from more than a few years ago.
I Will Never Be – great song! We used to play that song ALL the time and I have always like that one.
Your setlist seems like you all had a wonderful set that would allow any congregation to jump right in and have a powerful worship experience!

Fred-
I won’t pretend to know you at all, but I just want to say “thank you” for your heart for worshipers and worship leaders. Your consistency without motivation for self glorification is so encouraging!
