Friday Already?
Posted on September 25th, 2009 in Life and Family by Fred McKinnonHey Gang,
Well, I’ve been sick all week. About this time last week, I’d just finished a 3-1/2 hour rehearsal, a long day preparing, and was headed into a long weekend with little rest.
God made our bodies and minds so that we usually can discern when our immune system is suffering. I was tired … no, exhausted. But I kept pushing. I had rehearsals, soccer games, work, and two Sunday services plus a big “night of worship” to do. There was no time to slow down.
Compounding that, it was “Season Premier” week for many of my favorite TV shows … so of course, I stayed up late Thursday night, again Friday night, and stayed up Saturday night watching the Georgia game.
Sunday came and went – an incredible day of worship in our morning services and at our “Night of Worship”.
All the while, I’m at that place where my body is sending all the warning signs. By Monday afternoon I’d made the decision to voluntarily skip the “regimen” training the next morning (Tuesday) – I knew there was nothing in the tank. I *HATE* missing Regimen because I’ve already paid for it. I was feeling chilled and my throat was already hurting. I took a gulp of NyQuil and hit the sack.
Tuesday: woke up, could barely lift my head. Throat hurt so bad I couldn’t swallow. Fever over 101.
Called in a Z-Pack antibiotic and slept all day.
Now it’s Friday. I got a pretty good night’s sleep last night after a very quick, yet enjoyable rehearsal at SSCC. I can’t believe the entire week flew by and it’s all a big blur to me.
So there you have it. Not an exciting blog post, but it’s a glimpse of why this blog didn’t exist much this week, and where I’ve been.
Here’s to a better “Next Week”!
Fred
