The Day After … Here I Am

Written by Fred McKinnon on November 27, 2009 – 10:17 AM -

Its around 35 degrees right now. I’m sitting in “Will’s Stand”, a deer stand named after my son who helped us put it together. A guy must really love hunting to sit out here in the cold, especially without seeing any deer so many times. That’s why we call it hunting, and not “shooting”, my Dad always says.

Someone must have finally decided to take advantage of all the ducks we’ve been hearing … There is an ongoing barrage of shotgun fire (3 fast shots as I typed that) going off in the distance. A squirrel is bouncing around me in a tree 10 feet away, seemingly oblivious to my presence. A flock of geese just zoomed right over the tree line in front of me. (pause to look around).

My wife and kids are probably in the bed or just waking up, warm and cozy. I’ll be there in a couple of hours, hopefully with a great story and a big deer.

And unlike my hunts less than a decade ago, I have this connection while I’m in the woods … to you. My how technology has changed!

So as I sit quietly, peck a few words, stop and watch a while, and peck a few more words, I am thinking about how grateful I am to be a voice for God online, to you, my friends.

THANKS. Thanks for being a part of my life, even though most of you are invisible readers and lurkers that I will probably never meet.

God bless u tons..

For the Kingdom,
Fred

Love Coffee? Get some and help the Palmers!

Written by Fred McKinnon on November 23, 2009 – 1:51 PM -

just-love-coffee1Hey Folks,

I don’t often do this … but really wanted to help get the word out about this.  One of the folks who was on my trip to Peru recently was Anna Palmer.  She and her husband are in the process of adopting a child from Ethiopia.  I think this is one of the most honorable and selfless things to do in the world!

I got this email from Anna explaining this resource:

justlovecoffee.com is a company that helps adoptive parents raise money to fund their international adoptions. Basically, they have given us a URL and we receive money towards our adoption any time coffee is bought from our page. They have coffee from all over the world, and they are a fair trade organization”

So why not check out their site and purchase some coffee or gifts for yourself and loved ones … knowing that a portion of the proceeds is going to helping them adopt this child!
