The Day After … Here I Am
Posted on November 27th, 2009 in Life and Family by Fred McKinnonIts around 35 degrees right now. I’m sitting in “Will’s Stand”, a deer stand named after my son who helped us put it together. A guy must really love hunting to sit out here in the cold, especially without seeing any deer so many times. That’s why we call it hunting, and not “shooting”, my Dad always says.
Someone must have finally decided to take advantage of all the ducks we’ve been hearing … There is an ongoing barrage of shotgun fire (3 fast shots as I typed that) going off in the distance. A squirrel is bouncing around me in a tree 10 feet away, seemingly oblivious to my presence. A flock of geese just zoomed right over the tree line in front of me. (pause to look around). My wife and kids are probably in the bed or just waking up, warm and cozy. I’ll be there in a couple of hours, hopefully with a great story and a big deer. And unlike my hunts less than a decade ago, I have this connection while I’m in the woods … to you. My how technology has changed! So as I sit quietly, peck a few words, stop and watch a while, and peck a few more words, I am thinking about how grateful I am to be a voice for God online, to you, my friends. THANKS. Thanks for being a part of my life, even though most of you are invisible readers and lurkers that I will probably never meet. God bless u tons.. For the Kingdom,Fred
