So we had a hilarious goof today in our 9:00 service. Just before the sermon we had a cool sermon intro video that was supposed to play. Well the guy operating the video presenter had just opened our “livestream” page on the same computer, not thinking about the audio that would be present. So just as it was time to pull the volume for the sermon intro video you hear this Vaseline commercial that plays for 30-seconds at the beginning of our broadcast on LiveStream … hahaha … thankfully, everybody just laughed it off!
There was a lot happening today so we had a limited amount of music. I changed things up by doing a jazz instrumental version of “Go Tell it On the Mountain” as our “walk-in” song which was a lot of fun.
Then, we opened up with a traditional version of “Hark the Herald Angels Sing“.
After announcements, we did “Mighty to Save” and a special performance of Downhere’s Christmas song, “How Many Kings“.
Pastor David’s sermon and post-sermon financial update to the church body went a lot longer than planned (although not longer than expected!) so we were unable to do our final song, “Jesus Messiah” … so we did it anyway while people were dismissed.
For the last 4 weeks we’ve had a lot of extra stuff going on … which is OK, but honestly, I’m ready to get back to a regular service. All the extras make planning a bit more difficult and I just get this feeling that we’re not at our best. That’s why we call these “worship confessionals”.
