What Are You Reading?

Posted on July 9th, 2010 in Life and Family by Fred McKinnon

So …

What are you reading these days?  Anything?

What books are challenging you.
Are you a “book-in-the-hand” off the shelf person, or an e-book person (ie. Kindle, iPad)

“Breakthrough” by Derek Morphew has been great so far, and I’m re-reading “Divine Conspiracy” by Dallas Willard. Both ‘Kingdom of God’ books. Good stuff!

I currently reading Warrior Poets by Robin Mark which is a theology of worship and Justification by NT Wright. I generally like to have a book in my hand!

my two top books this year
    “The Last Christian”
    “Plan B” Pete Wilson

I recently read “Crazy Love” by Francis Chan. That book seriously kicked by butt (in a good way!) I definitely prefer to actually hold a book… just haven’ quite gotten into the digital thing yet.

Currently I’m reading Leaders Who Last by Dave Kraft and Stuff Christians Like by Jonathan Acuff.

I have a stack of probably 15 other books waiting to be read.

I just finished the second read of “Plan B” by Pete Wilson. Yesterday the mail brought “Cast of Characters” by Max Lucado, so I just started reading that.

I am definitely a “Book in the hand” type. I’m not bragging, but I read too quickly for an electronic reader. I’e tried ‘em, can’t stand ‘em. Plus, there is something real and tangible about turning pages.

I just finished “Forgotten God” by Francis Chan two weeks ago. Loved it so much I read it twice in 3 days. Right now I’m reading a book (summer reading assignment from the school I teach at in Winston Salem, NC) on behavior management and trying to help our student ministry establish a strategic behavior management plan so kids can learn valuable life lessons, but also hear about Christ without distraction or interruption.

Any book someone read twice in three days needs a look.

Oops…replied in the wrong spot earlier. Confusing.

Today I finished “Rethinking Christ and Culture”by Craig A. Carter. This was a pretty tough book and I am really looking forward to something a little lighter now. Not sure what I am going to hit up next. I’m also reading “The Screwtape Letters” a nice classic.

Like Mike, I’m a “book in hand” kinda guy. Been thinking about a kindle, but just don’t think I’ll like it.

“Evolving in Monkey Town” by Rachel Evans
