Dull. Dead. Disinterested.
Written by Fred McKinnon on January 6, 2011 – 3:50 PM -Happy New Year (again)
Not a single day has passed since January 1 where I didn’t think about this blog … this … piece of online real estate … this … expression of me.
The pressure … the expectation … the voice in my head … the conversation goes something like this:
IV (Inner Voice): “Fred, you need to get some blogs written. Discipline yourself and get it done”.
Fred: I know. But I just don’t feel like it.
IV: that’s why it’s a discipline.
Fred: I want to be undisciplined. I feel lazy and want to be lazy. I’m just not interested.
IV: But, you will lose momentum, traffic, and clout if you don’t keep consistent blogging. Didn’t you read Michael Hyatt’s post the other day?
Fred: yeah, that post was a real slap in the face. still, I don’t seem to care.
IV: C’mon, you can do it. You’ve been wanting to do a recap of that awesome Christmas Eve service!
Fred: nobody gives a rip.
IV: You’d be surprised. Plus, you’d promised some of those hilarious small-town stories.
Fred: maybe tomorrow
IV: You have got to pull out of this funk. You are dull. Dead. Disinterested.
Fred: maybe the fast we start next week will snap me out of it. Until then ….

IV: Fred, a lot of people will relate to this post. It’s bound to get some comments and traction.
Fred: Just for that, I’m not even going to retweet the link. So … there.

2010 Review
Written by Fred McKinnon on January 1, 2011 – 10:41 AM -Dear Friends & Family,
HAPPY NEW YEAR! I’m still amazed that it’s 2011. 2010 blew by so fast I hardly saw it come and go.
For my first blog post of 2011 I’d like to recap some of what happened here in 2010. Overall, 2010 was a lackluster year for blogging in my life. As much as I love and need the outlet to share, vent, resource, and network … other things kept taking the higher priority in life. I’ve heard so many people say how “blogs” are dying and not relevant anymore. Maybe that’s true to some degree. For me I tend to get a lot more social engagement via my Twitter feed and Facebook posts.
Nevertheless, there are too many things I’d like to share, resource, and reveal that can’t be done in such short bursts of mindless information. So, for now … FredMcKinnon.Com continues.
Small Town Stories
“Small Town Stories” is a new edition to the blog. I’ve added the category and hope to share some stories this year. Anyone who is around me more than 30 minutes knows I have a story for everything. (yeah, and I know, I always feel compelled to share my stories with everyone with my big mouth!). Maybe they are just entertaining for me, but I bet you’ll enjoy hearing them – so look for them here on the blog.
