Worship Interludes: Waiting In the Storm [Episode 56, November 9, 2017]

Have you ever found yourself in the midst of a storm?  You want to run and find shelter.  Protection is your biggest objective.   I loved this beautiful picture and I can imagine running into this barn for protection.

My piano interludes are meant to provide a musical background for prayer, meditation, reflection, and yes … even simple relaxation or entertainment.   For me, coming from the Christian faith, I know that in my storms I have to run to my Protector, Jesus Christ.   Sometimes He calms the storm and sometimes the storm rages and you find yourself waiting … and waiting … and waiting.

As one of my favorite songs says, “He’s in the waiting“.   I hope that as you listen to this interlude today that you will find a sense of peace in the waiting and in the midst of the storms.

Worship Interludes: Peace Be Still (Pre Hurricane Irma) [Episode 49, Sept 7, 2017]

Today’s interlude is called “Peace, Be Still”.   Hurricane Irma is a major hurricane that is ripping through the Caribbean and is threatening Florida, Georgia and the southern US.    We are still a few days away from having the impact of this storm and her path is uncertain.   Nevertheless, people here are already getting stressed, anxious, and worried.   Mandatory evacuations have been ordered and it’s hard to not get caught up in the frenzy of hysteria and worry.

I recorded this today in hopes that people would take six minutes to take a deep breath, slow down, breathe, and just say “peace, be still”.

I continue to pray that this storm veers north and goes out to sea.  In the meantime, we exercise caution and make plans and preparations.    In the midst of the turmoil there is a peace that we can find and I hope this interlude helps you find it.

Worship Interludes: Slowing Down [Episode 47, August 20, 2017]

Today’s episode is the first in a while.  I have to admit, life has taken me for a bit of a run and I’ve lost a bit of my momentum and discipline in recording these interludes.   Today was a busy day, non-stop from the moment we hit the “go” button.   Before I realized it the time had slipped away.  I looked at the clock and thought “I’m not leaving until I record”.   So I recorded a beautiful, heartfelt theme in the Key of A and when I finished a sense of satisfaction poured over me.  I turned to stop the recording and realized that nothing I’d played actually got recorded.   Ugh.

So, I decided to try again.  But this time, I felt tension inside of me and I remembered … “slow it down”.   In between the opening chords, I found myself closing my eyes and taking deep, long breaths.

It’s amazing how much tension we can carry.   I hope that you’ll take a moment and listen to this and “slow it down”.  Relax.  Breathe.  Pray.  Meditate.  Be thankful.

Be at peace.
