Sunday Setlists #22 – Merry Christmas

sunday-setlists

Hey Everybody – Welcome to the 22nd week of Sunday Setlists – where you share your own recap, textfessional, or “Worship Confessional’ of your worship experience this week.

Lots of worship leaders participate, and we’d love to have lots more people chime in who just attended a worship service.

Here’s the simple rules:

1 – Blog about your worship service today – share about the songs, what you loved, what God spoke to you, sermon series, creative elements, etc.,  Just give us all a glimpse into your worship service.

2 – In your blog, link back to this post, so that those who read YOUR BLOG will come here and see the links to all the other recaps.  You might want to say something like “Today’s recap is a part of the “Sunday Setlists” blog carnival hosted at FredMcKinnon.Com” and link back to:
http://www.fredmckinnonl.com/myblog/2008/12/21/sunday-setlists-22

3 – After completing Steps 1 & 2 above, fill out the “Mister Linky” form below.  In the “URL” field, be sure to put the URL to YOUR BLOG POST, and not your blog’s homepage.  (Homepage Links will be removed).

4 – Leave a comment, and then visit all the other sites and check out what others are doing!

*** Worship Confessional for St. Simons Community Church, Dec 21 – 2008 ****

Ok, well honestly, I can’t say a lot because truth is .. I wasn’t in the main auditorium.  I’ve been backstage all day in our Kid’s Clubhouse Theater preparing for the “Jingle Jam” event, which is our rendition of a “Charlie Brown Christmas”.  However, Harriet Jones led worship, and she brings years of experience, passion, and insight for leading at this church.

They opened up with “Glory to God in the Highest” (Buddy Greene) and “Angels We Have Heard on High”
After a welcome and announcements, they did “Mary Did You Know”, “In Christ Alone”, and we had the awesome privilege of having Todd Hendrix come back and sing “Mary Did You Know” as the special.  This was an awesome moment because Todd was recently diagnosed with a cancerous tumor under his knee, and had substantial surgery which has had him off the platform for a while.  He had to come up on crutches and sit down, but it was an incredible moment to see his worshiping in the midst of his trial.

The closer was “Here I Am To Worship”.  From the bits and pieces I heard, and from what I’ve been hearing from those who attended, it was an incredible day.

Meanwhile, we were preparing for “Jingle Jam” which is a blast.  We’ve already finished the 4:00 showing, which was jam-packed, and I’m typing this from the Kid’s Clubhouse Theater “backstage” where we’re preparing for the 6:30 showing.

In closing, here’s a quick “cell-phone” video clip of the chaos happening backstage just before the 4:00 showing.

Love both your openers Harriet. My favourites. Always spell Christmas for me. And a lovely way to close. I’m debating whether or not I should have closed a little quieter or at the very least given a little more quiet worship and reflective time. I did a great big JOY to the world!

  17. How much fun. Thanks for sharing the vid.
I pray that everyone’s service (and upcoming Christmas eve service if you have one) touches peoples heart for Chirst.

  19. Ed Schief says:

I feel like a kid–we cancelled Sunday church. I played Saturday, but Sunday morning the roads were a scary mess. Here’s the kid part: I sat around waiting for the phone call, thinking “We shouldn’t have church, it’s too bad outside, the roads aren’t really passable”, and then when the call came, I warmed up my Jeep and drove to Panera Bread to pick up breakfast for Molly and me.

Ed Schiefs last blog post..Ohhh, the weather outside…

  20. Fred says:

Good morning all – wow, Mister Linky has removed a bunch of links already … 22 weeks and it’s hilarious how many folks don’t read those simple rules. READ and FOLLOW da RULES, peeps … they are there for are a reason. Don’t put your blog’s homepage URL in the linky box, and when you link back here in your post, please link back to the appropriate post … that way, our visitors find YOUR SETLIST POST when they click here, and YOUR VISITORS find ALL OF THESE SETLIST POSTS when they click to come here …

Lots of folks still linking to their blog’s homepage, and lots of folks now linking back to this post … links back to my homepage, fredmckinnon.com, etc., are appreciated, but the idea is to link back to THIS POST so people can actually find the Sunday Setlists post, even 1-2-3 weeks later.

MERRY CHRISTMAS – and if your link is gone, follow da rules, and resubmit.

  21. Brad Hafner says:

Fred, check your link above. In the past it has been a hyperlink but not this time. When I copy and paste it into my blog it doesn’t work.
    Brad

  22. Fred says:

    Hey Brad –
I can make it a hyperlink – but doesn’t your blog editor have the capability for you to paste in the text, and then highlight it, click the “link” tool, and paste it in again as a link? Either way, I’ll make it a hyperlink above. Didn’t know you could copy a hyperlink in a blog, and then paste it into your own, and it was automatically made a link! Go figure.

  23. Brad Hafner says:

    Thank you sir. Mine’s fixed!

  24. Jon Morris says:

back after a 2 week sabbatical…ok maybe not sabbatical maybe it was just laziness and business..either way….I’m back in the mix

    Merry Christmas!
