My Worship Confessional for SSCC
Today was an energy-packed day for our church. Because of my lasik surgery on Thursday, I chose to schedule myself “off” for the weekend. Harriet Jones led worship for us and did a splendid job. Of course I was doing just fine from the eye procedure and I’m proud to report I’m already seeing 20/20 vision. I ran the “live stream” broadcast which you can go back and watch at http://www.sscommunitychurch.com/live/
We had the honor of hosting New York Times Best-Selling Author, Ron Hall … co-author of the book “Same Kind of Different As Me”. What an incredible story. I really need to get that book. Because of his popularity our church was packed in both services. It was exciting to see the huge crowds pouring in and how are people rode the shuttle buses to free up parking for the guests. You can read more about the service on Pastor David’s blog.
Here’s the setlist that Harriet and the band led:
Walk-In: My Redeemer Lives (Hillsong)
Opening Songs:
Hosanna (Paul Baloche/Brenton Brown)
How Marvelous (I Stand Amazed)
To setup Ron Hall, Harriet did an incredible special by herself – an old Bruce Carroll song, “Who Will Be Jesus”. You couldn’t have picked a better opening for the incredible story and challenge from Ron.
Closing things out was “The Wonderful Cross”.
Musically, it was a shorter Sunday due to the special event. We also had some announcements and a baby dedication.
I’m back to leading next week and look forward to it!

posted on a short break… back for service number 3 tonight
Sounds like a good service. O the wonderful cross…thank God for it.
The Lord is good!
I was a big Bruce Carroll fan back in the day. “Who Will Be Jesus” — thanks for the quick trip to memory lane. “She doesn’t need a judge; she needs a friend.” Good stuff.
Good day today–one of those that make up for those days when you swear you’ll never lead another worship service ever.
Missing my family terribly–they’ve been away since Friday…now I’ve got to clean house and get ready for their arrival. I’m not a very good single man any more–I need my fam.
I’ve heard of that book and thought about getting it too.
Posted! Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

Glad to hear the lasik went well.
We rocked out at the park for our first outdoor combined worship service! We will do it again.
Posted – first time! Man, I am slow at this blog stuff – HA! Have a great week!
Sounds like an awesome Sunday at SSCC, Fred. Glad to hear you’re already seeing 20/20! Praise God, brother!

Fred and friends…had a GREAT time of worship and did 2 new songs!
Had a great morning. We sang “Holy Spirit Come” for the first time in our congregation and transitioned it into “Come Now is the Time to Worship”. Wow!
I learned “Holy Spirit Come” as I participated in one of Fred’s online worship and prayer. Thanks for sharing yourself and this song!
Have a great week everyone!

Posted! Hope you all had a great week!
We did Hosanna this week in our set as well. That is one of my favorite opening songs! And it’s so much fun to play
This was a weighty Sunday for me as I prepared a financial update from the church to share with the body. There wasn’t really any good news I could deliver except that we worship Jesus and he can change our hearts.
Music went well, we had a lot of new people which is always encouraging.
Great worship this Sunday–moving, powerful, tight, balanced, and overall about as good as I could have ever hoped for!
Don’t get music this great most of the time, so I’m letting the worshipful sounds we made lift me up and keep me up this week!
Posted! Hope you had a great weekend. We certainly did!
I’m in.
Checking in from Edinboro, PA!
That book changed the way I viewed community outreach! The best book I’ve read about really being Jesus “with skin on” What a privilege to have him at your church! Glad you eyes are good, Fred! We have GOT to get together soon – we live WAY to close not to!
Fred – Praise God for you successful surgery! Taking a break was the right thing to do! Blessings!
Fred, glad you’re no longer seeing men-like-trees! 🙂 I think I’d be too scairt to try that surgery…
Greg Hill, Music director at Christ Church Buckhead (georgia) had me swapping between my double bass and my electric bass every other song this last Sunday! [wipes brow] fun stuff!
Better late than never!
A little late this week, but here is my setlist!
My list is finally up. I’m still trying to learn the twitter thing. How’s the best way to put my list up on twitter and have it link to your site and or the Twubs. I behind on learning this stuff.
This MIGHT be the latest I’ve ever been reporting our weekend in worship! (hey, it’s only Friday…)
OK, I’m trying this out. Posted our first blog and setlist for this site. Looking forward to seeing what others are doing.
