Pinterest: Is It Really Worth It?

pinterest

Pinterest is one of the latest social media sharing sites that have evolved over the past year.  I’ve noticed that Pinterest has picked up a lot of steam and has attracted lots of new users.

My first impression of Pinterest was that it was nothing more than a pinboard for ladies to look at pretty pictures of porches and paintings.  As I’ve delved into Pinterest more I’ve learned there’s a lot more under the hood.

A few months ago I finally created my Pinterest account (Pinterest.Com/fmckinnon) and created my first board.  The board is called “Spiritual Inspirations” and I thought I’d save (pin) things that I saw online that were inspiring.  I have to confess I’ve not used it very often but I still can see a lot of potential.

My primary interest would be to share ideas (and receive ideas) from others in regards to creative planning for worship services and gatherings.  I know how to pin my own thoughts but have yet to really figure out the best way to see other similar boards that would help me.

How about you?  Are you Pinterested?  What do you use it for?

Yea Fred, I use pinterest. I too thought it was just a glorified bookmarking website so I stayed away. But I signed up to see if I could use it for any creative things for church. I started pinning things we could use for stage decorations or decorating the room for holidays. I got into finding tons of awesome recipes and so mostly I use it for creative ideas and recipes. It’s been really beneficial for me in these areas.

I see you haven’t made much traction with Pinterest since you first posted this message a month ago. hehe. I use Pinterest to keep track of gift ideas for my family & friends, faith-based quotes, design inspirations (artwork mostly), cool products, t-shirts, ideas for the home, etc. I too am a novice but the best way to learn about it is to use it. My account is:

      Erik,

Yeah – I’ve got an account, well-intended, but I don’t have a clue when I’ll really use it for the intended purposes I had. I guess all the real Pinterest people are too busy looking at Pinterest to notice the blog post, haha! Thanks for jumping in.
