After taking a wonderful Spring Break vacation after Easter Sunday, I was back at SSCC leading our worship services this past Sunday. I’m posting this setlist recap as a part of the weekly “Sunday Setlists” event hosted by TheWorshipCommunity.Com. It’s a great place to read recaps from other churches to see what others are singing and glean potential creative ideas.
I spent a good bit of time yesterday reviewing our Sunday service. Overall it was good but I was discouraged by what appeared to be a significant bit of disinterest and disengagement during our singing. It’s true, every now and then you have a Sunday that just feels really flat. This was one of those Sundays but it challenges me to take a look more closely at the songs we sang and the order in which they were presented. Could I have done something differently? I think so. I’ll discuss that in a future post.
For now, let me simply recap the songs we sang.
Walk In: “One Thing Remains” (Bethel – first time I’d led this in our church)
Opening: “The Lord Reigns” (C-D/Gateway): extremely high energy full of emphatic declarations
Middle Set:
“Blessed Assurance” (D)
“Redeemed” (B/Big Daddy Weave) – special
Our closer was a fun rendition of the classic “Lean On Me” as our sermon was about the characters in our story and how we need each other.
I observed a few things I’d change and I hope to blog about that in a separate post.
How was your Sunday?
